Anna's aged mother is dying and is being subjected to increasingly desperate interventions, so her mother turns her attention to her hospital window, through which she escapes into visions of horror and delight. When Anna has a finger and then a knee disappear, she too feels the pull of the window. As she notices people around her are disappearing too, all Anna can do is focus on keeping her mother alive. But the window keeps opening wider, taking Anna into a eerily beautiful story of loss and love and orange- bellied parrots.
